Ben Hammond has served as Lawrenceville’s Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and Secretary to the Board of Trustees since July 1, 2017.
As Lawrenceville’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Hammond has primary responsibility for the School’s business operations, financial management, budget and financial planning, and endowment and other assets, including off-campus real estate. As the School’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), he also oversees Auxiliary Services and Summer Programs, Lawrenceville Summer Scholars, Human Resources, Lawrenceville’s Childcare Center, and Legal and Risk Management.
He is an Officer of the corporation, serving as Treasurer of the School and Secretary to Lawrenceville’s Board of Trustees. In addition, he serves as the administration’s liaison and staff to the Board’s Executive, Finance, Investment, Trustees, and Audit and Risk Committees.
Hammond returned to central New Jersey after six years in Massachusetts where he served as Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer at Wellesley College (2013-17) and Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer at Mount Holyoke College (2011-13). Between 2002-11, he served as a senior administrator at Princeton University in a series of roles with increasing responsibility, most recently as Executive Director of Finance and Administrative Services for the Facilities division. Earlier in his career, he was a management consultant at McKinsey. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he earned an MBA, and Harvard College, where he earned a B.A. in history and literature, magna cum laude. He grew up on the campus of, and graduated from, Phillips Exeter Academy.
